I attended the artist’s reception for the “Sanctuary” exhibit yesterday at the Tucson Jewish Community Center artSanctuary exhibition reception, Terra Fine gallery. The show looks great, a mix of local Tucson artists and known contemporary artists including Alexander Calder and Marc Chagall. I felt honored to have my art be displayed among them.

I was able to meet some of the other local artists exhibiting work there, two of whom were Pat Frederick (charcoal drawing, “Nap Time”, was based on her observations of a family of African elephants) and Julie Janney (whose evocative acrylic painting displayed both sadness and hope). Since our family has recently relocated to the Tucson area, it was great to make contact with my fellow peers and to start planting some roots.

If you’re in the area, this weekend is the panel discussion with “Sanctuary” artists and Jeffrey Cornish, Executive Director of the IRC, Sunday, March 31, 1-2:30 p.m.
